Torpedo for Geno Picture, Week 10

The Torpedo for Geno title keeps taking hit after hit. When the moniker first really took off, West Virginia had just improved to 4-0 by beating Baylor 70-63, and Geno Smith was sitting on a line of 20 TDs/0 INTs. While he wasn't the surefire stud that Andrew Luck was, he seemed like a pretty nice prize.

Just over 5 weeks later, West Virginia is now 5-4 and riding a 4-game losing streak. Smith's numbers still look good, 3041 yards, 31 TDs/3 INTs, but you can't say that he's the clear prize for whoever finishes with the worst record.

The first tiebreaker for draft position is strength of schedule (lower SOS gets the higher pick in round 1).
After SOS, the next tie-breakers are conference record and division record. After that it comes down to a coin flip.

Note that the Rams own the Redskins' 1st round pick as a result of the RGIII trade.

Interesting Notes:
  • Note that the order has been modified to ensure that the 12 "playoff" teams as of week 10 are given draft slots 21-32. This is why Minnesota is ahead of the New York Giants, despite a higher strength of schedule.
  • Toughest remaining schedules among current top-5 teams:
    • Jacksonville - .495
    • Carolina - .460
    • Cleveland - .460
    • Kansas City - .460
    • Buffalo - .427
