I'm officially concerned about the New York Giants. In their first game they got dominated by Dallas. In their second they needed a superhuman effort from Eli Manning in the second half (after his 3-INT performance in the first half) just to beat Tampa Bay by 7. Carolina, on the other hand, lost to that same Tampa team in week 1, then torched the Saints for 35 points in a week 2 win.
Carolina comes into this game pretty healthy, while the Giants are a walking MASH unit. Starting RB Ahmad Bradshaw is out (though they can't run anyway). Starting WR Hakeem Nicks is out. They're going on the road on a short week (seriously, why did the Giants get stuck with 2 of the first 3 midweek games? Who made the schedule, Robert Kraft?) and they're facing a dynamic offense a week after giving up 34 points to a "meh" one.
Most concerning for New York? Their secondary cannot cover anyone (I'm Kevin Ogletree and I approved this message). Cam Newton isn't the prolific passer that Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, or even Tony Romo is, but he's a heck of a lot more dynamic than Josh Freeman. Add in Cam's ability to escape (or just plain shake off) the pass rush, and I'm picking Carolina.
CAROLINA (-2.5 ) over New York Giants
Given my history, this should be very pleasing to Giants fans everywhere.
