Ohio State 78, Iowa State 75
This game was a hell of a way to start out Day 4. These teams just went at it, back and forth. Ohio State would pull away, then Iowa State would hit a bunch of threes in a row. Ohio State would answer, then Iowa State would turn up the defense and force OSU into some turnovers. In the end, it came down to each team's last chance at the ball. With under 30 seconds left and the game tied at 75, Ohio State missed a jumper. Iowa State couldn't control the rebound, and lost it out of bounds, handing the ball to Ohio State for the last shot. OSU's point guard, Aaron Craft, dribbled the clock down and took a three point shot with half-a-second left. It went in, and the Ohio State moves on.
Indiana 58, Temple 52
As the announcers said in this one, one seeds don't usually blitz through the whole field on their way to the title. There's usually at least one stumble on the way. But having watched Georgetown's loss and much of this Indiana game, I wasn't much more impressed with Indiana, especially offensively. As a pool member who picked Indiana to go all the way, I'm about as concerned about this as I am about my son's new habit of yelling "Daddy! Come in!" when he's supposed to be sleeping.
On another note, Cody Zeller is holding up the Zeller family name. And by that I mean he looks like an awkward tall white guy who gets bullied all over the court by opponents with anything resembling muscle mass. I just read a write-up of Indiana in the Sports Illustrated college basketball preview issue (I don't always read magazines, but when I do, they're at least 4 months in arrears) that describes Zeller as "very athletic", "highly-skilled", and doesn't use the word "awkward" anywhere. Apparently Indiana is the first #1 seed with entirely blind players and coaches. So that's a pretty mean feat.
