San Diego State 70, Oklahoma 55
The proverbial, weather the underdog's storm, and eventually they will peter out and you can assert your will on the game. Oklahoma played a great first half, but simply wore down and couldn't hit their shots in the second half.
Iowa State 76, Notre Dame 58
And it wasn't that close. Notre Dame has struggled with athletic teams that play hard-nosed defense, and that's exactly what Iowa State is. Their quickness had them running circles around the plodding Irish, on both sides of the ball.
Kansas 64, Western Kentucky 57
I could have written this script: Kansas comes out shaky, they look tight. The challenger takes an early lead, and essentially keeps it through the first half. As the second half progresses, Kansas' very good defense takes its toll on the upstart, and they can't buy a bucket. Kansas moves on after giving their fans (and bracket backers) a decent-sized scare, but they move on to fight another day. This is exactly how Bill Self's teams always play their first games when they are a high seed.
Minnesota 83, UCLA 63
UCLA lost a top player during their conference tournament, and their best player (Muhammad) had a terrible first half. It was too much for them to overcome.
