NFL Standings, Week 4

In a battle of two gunslingers, the game ended with 5 interceptions. Jay Cutler threw none of them (he did lose a fumble, though). Like I said as the Bears' second pick-6 deep-sixed a fantasy team, "I'm not even mad, I'm just dumbfounded." Little did I know that Romo had 3 more picks in him last night.

The Dez Bryant curfew rules seem to be reigning in his off-the-field behavior. Perhaps it's time for someone to write a list of on-field rules to curtail his team-damaging behavior. Things like, know the playbook, get on the same page as your quarterback for hot reads, and stop dropping passes might make their way onto this list of rules.

Seeing good Jay Cutler like this just makes it more irritating when you get bad Jay Cutler. When you get bad Blaine Gabbert, you accept it, because good Blaine Gabbert doesn't look any different. But with a quarterback with Cutler's talent, you see the nice things you could have, if only Cutler would be at all consistent. Of course, it makes a world of difference to Jay Cutler if you bother to protect Jay Cutler. And when Jay Cutler is happy not upset in the middle of a pouty tantrum, you're much more likely to get good Jay Cutler.

Onto the standings, through week 4:

  • There would be 7 new playoff teams compared to last season if the season ended today
  • The 5 repeaters: Houston, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Atlanta, San Francisco
  • Houston and Arizona would have home field advantage in their respective conferences

A Quick Look Ahead to Week 5:
Arizona at St. Louis (Thursday, 8:20 PM) - St. Louis can play the game Arizona wants to play, they beat Seattle at the no-offense game on Sunday. Arizona plays that game better than Seattle does though.
Denver at New England (Sunday, 4:25 PM) - Brady vs Manning, Round 13. FIGHT!
Buffalo at San Francisco (Sunday, 4:25 PM) - A real defense shows a paper defense in how it's done.
Houston at New York Jets (Monday, 8:30 PM) - Does Mark Sanchez make it to the end in this game?
