The biggest surprise of the day was China (16th ranked team in the world) defeating the Netherlands (12th) 1-0. The second biggest surprise was Norway drawing Germany despite being outshot 27-4 (the Germans had an 8-3 edge in shots on goal).
The greatest travesty of the day was Thailand's 3-2 win over the Ivory Coast, where no less than 2 of Thailand's goals should have been disallowed for offsides. Considering the Ivory Coast is the lowest ranked team in the tournament (67th), teams don't need any help to beat them (as Germany (top team in the world) showed in their matchup with the Ivory Coast, winning 10-0).
