NBA/NHL Playoffs Update, April 29

Once we hit the start of the NBA and NHL playoffs, I can never keep everything straight. So I figured I'd once again do myself (and anyone who frequents this blog) the service of keeping a current tally of each NBA and NHL playoff series.

Notes:
  • The NHL's first round ends tonight with game 7 of the Lightning/Red Wings series.
  • The numbers in parentheses (on the outside of each table) are the seed of that particular team (the lower the seed, the better that team's regular season record...mostly)
  • The numbers on the inside of each table are the number of games won by that team in the series.
  • Every series below is a 7-game series.
  • This will not be a comprehensive overview of either the NBA or NHL playoffs, simply an opportunity to keep tabs on which series are over quickly and which ones are in the process of going down to the wire.
  • The NBA has a rule where a division winner cannot finish the season lower than the #4 seed in its conference, even if 4+ other teams in the conference have a better record than that division winner. However, home court advantage in this situation still goes to the team with the better record, so 5-seed Memphis (55-27 record during the regular season) has home court in their first round series with 4-seed Portland (51-31).
