The first tiebreaker for draft position is strength of schedule (lower SOS gets the higher pick in round 1).
After SOS, the next tie-breakers are conference record and division record. After that it comes down to a coin flip.
* designates teams who would determine the higher pick between them via a coin flip.
Note that the Rams own the Redskins' 1st round pick as a result of the RGIII trade.
Interesting Notes:
- Toughest remaining schedules among current top-8 teams:
- Detroit (4-9) - .590 (@ARI, ATL, CHI)
- Kansas City (2-11) - .564 (@OAK, IND, @DEN)
- Philadelphia (4-9) - .564 (CIN, WAS, @NYG)
- Arizona (4-9) - .551 (DET, CHI, @SF)
- Jacksonville (2-11) - .487 (@MIA, NE, @TEN)
- Tennessee (4-9) .436 (NYJ, @GB, JAX)
- Carolina (4-9) - .359 (@SD, OAK, @NO)
- Oakland (3-10) - .308 (KC, @CAR, @SD)
The bolded games indicate where 2 teams currently in top-8 draft position will face off in the season's last 3 weeks.
Based on the above, Kansas City should have their pick of the 2013 draft between their record and remaining schedule. So in the end we might very well have a quarterback going 1st overall in 2013. Though, if style points counted at all, Arizona would get the #1 overall pick. 9 straight losses, including the latest one by a 58-0 score. You want quitting? That is about as striking an example as you are going to get.
